Did Not Make The Cut #1

I Will Take a Look After Lunch.
Description

This one came from something I have seen play out more than once.

QA drops a bug into the channel.
You take a quick look:

* The issue only happens in production and can't be reproduced.
* Logs do not seem to help.
* The code path does not make sense.
* and just enough detail to know it is going to ruin your afternoon.

You know it will not take long before QA starts asking for someone to take it.
Time is short.
You got stuck with the last nightmare.
Not today.
Today, I go to lunch.

“I Will Take a Look After Lunch.”

(Lead) Lee: I need someone to grab this bug.
Glenn: I am working on a different production bug.
(Lead) Lee: James?
Pete: James is at lunch
(Lead) Lee: Pete, can you take a look and ping me if you need help?
... long pause as Pete silently yells at himself for saying anything.
To make matters worse, James has been back from lunch for 10 minutes.

Pete: sure.
James: thanks Pete.
Lesson Learned

Sometimes timing is the most important debugging skill of all.
